Job Description

Fugro Netherlands Marine is looking for a Technical Supervisor to join our Geophysical Survey team based in Nootdorp, The Netherlands.

Reporting to the Operations Manager for Marine Geophysics (including UXO ID and Clearance ROV services), this role encompasses elements of technical development of staff and solutions, and project engineering of backdeck solutions.

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled surveyor or engineer, preferably with experience of Marine geophysics, and UXO identification and clearance. This role is crucial for the effective delivery of engineering, procurement, trials, operations, and logistics activities, ensuring project success. The role is pivotal within the Operations team and acts as a central figure between Operations Manager, Innovation teams, Senior UXO Experts and Vessel Managers.

You are directly responsible for junior offshore staff, ensuring that their development leads to their deployment into the business quickly and with independence.

Your role

  • You act as Technical Supervisor and Project Engineer for the department (hybrid role), serve as the single point of contact for basic technical/operational queries and are the interface between engineering, operations, logistics and project management;

  • You support and liaise with Operations Manager (OM) in management of 3rd party rentals and 3rd party suppliers and advise OM on equipment, its utilisation, cost and future acquisition needs;

  • You lead on R&D projects, innovations, trials and technology development to improve equipment and processes, maintaining Fugro’s competitive advantage;

  • You work on new equipment integration into the business and support the development and standardisation of work instructions;

  • You provide timely reports and updates on project status (e.g. schedules, risks, cost and project performance) to stakeholders including Operations Manager, Senior UXO Experts and Vessel Managers;

  • You supervise technical support to Project Managers, vessels and project teams, and support in improving department processes and organisation;

  • You create mob plans and deck layouts, open and follow Jira tickets for Starfix issues and enforce and uphold QHSSE corporate policies across project scopes.

Your track record

  • You have proven experience in operations such as UXO survey and ID & clearance, seismic and other geophysical operations;

  • You have a working knowledge of ROV operations, Remote Operations and other autonomous geophysical survey / UXO mitigation solutions;

  • You have a technical background with the ability to produce high-quality documentation;

  • You are competent in creating basic deck layouts (AutoCAD or equivalent);

  • You are analytical, decisive, efficient and goal oriented, and have good communication and language skills in English (written and spoken;

  • You are a team player with an engaging and empathetic leadership style, that understands the One Fugro ethos, focussing on Fugro’s regional results as a priority over entity results.
