Job Description

Fugro is now seeking a Geotechnical Supervising Engineer to join the Offshore Site Investigation and Reporting team based in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, UK. This is an exceptional opportunity to work as part of a global team on site characterisation, independently supervising offshore site investigations projects, including engineering analyses and production of technical reports.

The Geotechnical Supervising Engineer will have the opportunity to assist the Senior Engineer in the professional development of team members. Whilst this role is predominantly office based, some travel and offshore site work will also be required, typically 30 to 60 days per year working aboard a drillship, both in UK and foreign waters, to lead the offshore geotechnical team.

Your duties will also include but not be limited to -

  • Actively play the role of site management or team leader on routine and non-routine offshore site investigation projects.

  • Supervising a team of engineers, assistant engineers and engineering assistants;

  • Attending client meetings and performing client-related project administrative tasks;

  • Assigning laboratory tests and monitoring progress through the laboratory;

  • Independently evaluating, selecting, performing and checking standard engineering analyses;

  • Producing field, laboratory parameters and engineering reports for further review by senior colleagues;

  • Approving report deliverables;

  • Assisting other professionals with technical training, proposals, invoices and marketing;

  • Assisting with continuing development of inter-company and Client contacts;

  • Recommending and implementing improvements in specific operational area;

Essential

  • Degree in civil engineering or related discipline or equivalent in experience;

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

  • Proven ability to problem solved;

  • Proven post-graduate experience within an engineering environment, including management of engineering projects.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of soil and rock description and testing and reporting;

  • Good knowledge of geology and soil mechanics;

  • Good knowledge of soil/rock and foundation engineering issues;

  • Professional chartered status or equivalent experience.
