Job Description

The Commercial Manager is responsible for marketing, tendering and managing projects. They will supervises the day-to-day activities of these projects with full technical and commercial responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.

  • Applies Fugro objectives, principles, and practices in the interpretation, organization, execution, and coordination of projects of any complexity (e.g. multi-disciplinary and/or international).

  • For projects of unique character, defines the scope, selects areas for investigation, and develops novel concepts, in collaboration with technical staff.

  • Helps maintain client database.

  • Establishes monitors and controls project budgets, taking corrective action as necessary.

  • Prepares and reviews invoices for own projects.

  • Negotiates directly with the client when project needs to exceed scope, schedule or budget.

  • Identifies new projects through contact with clients and market awareness.

  • Assists with training, employee appraisals, and QHSSE program as needed.

  • Prepares proposals for review by supervisor, and negotiates or adjusts as needed to suit client requirements.

  • Assists in the development of sales plans.

  • Assists supervisor with client maintenance and the development of new clients.

  • Performs project post-mortems and follow-up with clients to gauge their level of satisfaction.

  • Acts as site manager on challenging or unique field investigations.

Job Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.

  • Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.

  • Possess a Bachelor's in Engineering, the Geosciences or Business required.

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Geosciences, or Business preferred.

  • Have 8 or more years of experience as a commercial manager. Experience in offshore geotechnics preferred.

  • Has a good knowledge and understanding of the basics of technical specialty

  • Occasional travel is required.

  • Proficiency in the use of office administration and Dbase software.
