Job Description

Are you ready to embark on a career that contributes to creating a safer and more sustainable world? Fugro's Technical Department of Fleet Services is seeking a dedicated Maintenance and Reliability Engineer with a strong marine technical background to join our team in Leidschendam, the Netherlands.

You will be immediately involved in key projects, primarily focusing on the conversion of two vessels, Voyager and Scout, starting in January 2025. In addition, you will assist in upgrading our PMS system. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the reliability of a diverse fleet, including Geophysical Research Vessels (typically DP0 or DP1 class), Geotechnical Drilling Research Vessels (DP2 class), and Inspection Vessels equipped with DP2 classification and ROVs for comprehensive inspection tasks.

Your insights will guide us in adopting best maintenance practices and selecting the right equipment, as we are at the forefront of important transitions, including the conversion of our present and new Geotechnical vessels to incorporate hybrid battery installations, methanol-driven combustion engines and propulsion enhancements. You visit vessels to verify data when needed and foster close collaboration with Vessel Teams, both onboard and onshore, as well as collaborating with subject matter experts to define planned maintenance and condition monitoring. Your role would typically involve very limited international travel, with the exception of a few weeks a year when new vessels are brought into management.

Your role

  • You play a key role in defining a Maintenance strategy, by analyzing the reliability, availability, maintainability and life costs of equipment and systems;

  • You utilize advanced statistical data analysis techniques to derive meaningful insights and optimize maintenance strategies;

  • You demonstrate expertise in applying technical root cause analysis to investigate equipment or system breakdowns, enabling effective solutions;

  • You proficiently interpret Condition Monitoring Reports and work closely with vessel teams to formulate necessary maintenance, repair, or modification plans for equipment and systems;

  • You implement and oversee the planned maintenance system (STAR) for new vessels and equipment, ensuring seamless integration;

  • You ensure the timely delivery of a comprehensive planned maintenance and condition monitoring program for newly assigned assets;

  • You uphold company standards by meticulously ensuring the vessel-specific data quality within the Planned Maintenance System.

Your track record

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering and at least 2 years working experience in a similar role;

  • Strong Technical background with knowledge of marine class rules and IMO requirements;

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for technical drawing interpretation, Excel (pivot table creation), and a bonus for PowerBI, complemented by experience with various Planned Maintenance Software such as Amos, Basnet, Star IPS, TM Master;

  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
