Job Description

Fugro Satellite Positioning Service Line supports your offshore work with a global network of reference stations, monitoring signals from GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and Galileo) satellites and generating corrections to significantly improve the accuracy of unaugmented GNSS signals. Correction messages are transmitted to vessels via a robust, fault-tolerant broadcast infrastructure, providing precise, reliable, real-time satellite positioning that is accurate worldwide, to just a few centimeters.

The Network Engineer is responsible for implementing and managing a reliable and secure Fugro Data Network in support of real-time Global Navigation Satellite System services. This role works with the Houston Network Control Center personnel and in close collaboration with the Singapore Network Control Center and additional Fugro Satellite Positioning operational and development personnel worldwide in support of our Global infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities

  • Configure and update local/remote routers, install, configure, and update. software, security patches, licensing, and virus scanners on local and remote systems.

  • Install and reconfigure NCC cabling and hardware and support remote site hardware installation and reconfiguration.

  • Monitor Network performance and address issues as appropriate to maintain security and operational capability.

  • Coordinate planned downtime with Network Control Centre Manager and/or Operational staff to minimize customer impact.

  • Determine the cause for whole or partial system and/or network downtime and implement solutions to improve availability.

  • Participate in an after-hours support roster for NCC operations.

  • Hardware and software configuration, monitoring and proactively supporting the daily operation of our Fugro Data Network, including Network Control Center (NCC), Remote sites and Satellite uplink sites.

Job Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.

  • Possess current driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record.

  • Have College coursework in information technology required.

  • Posses a degree in computer networking systems, IT or computer science preferred.

  • Have 1 to 3 years’ experience in Networking.

  • In-depth understanding of Linux, Windows, and data networks.

  • CCNA qualification preferred.
