The role

As a Workshop Technician you will be responsible for the maintenance and testing of the company’s sub-sea intervention tooling in accordance with the approved drawings, bills of material and procedures.  You will ensure that all work is undertaken to the highest quality and professionalism in accordance with the company Business Management System and project specific documentation.  You will maintain good quality techniques while working to the technical instructions supplied.

You will ensure that all activities are carried out with the highest regard to the health and safety of all involved and to the protection of the environment and prevention of pollution.  You will be responsible for undertaking Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks prior to the commencement of works.  Adhering to all company and customer documentation where necessary and ensuring all experiential and competency documentation and factory acceptance testing documentation is kept up to date.  You will adhere to all HSSE and Quality policies and procedures and ensure that any clients/contractors are provided with the same duty of care while visiting the workshop.

You will identify personal training needs, bringing them to the attention of the department manager and take full advantage of the training opportunities provided.  You will continually seek the identification of new working methods and/ or technology and / or cost reductions to improve performance.

You will give accurate feedback to the Workshop Supervisor on the status of their jobs and any potential hold points.  You will complete workshop reports when carrying out refurbishment of tooling.  You will maintain the company’s equipment, reporting any defects to the Workshop Supervisor.

You will ensure good housekeeping practices are maintained within the workshop and off site while visiting or working at customers’ premises.  You will ensure that feedback is given and received between individuals and different departments during the course of carrying out their duties in the interests of continuous development and improvement.

Who we’re looking for****:****

You will have completed a recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or a modern apprenticeship at a minimum of SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).  You will have experience with small bore tubing and pressure testing of hydraulic components along with previous hands on experience working with mechanical and hydraulic systems and schematics.

You will also have the ability to analyse, fault-find and problem solve hydraulic and mechanical technical engineering problems and be familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Experience in the operation of ROV Tooling, ROV systems and robotics along with an understanding of electrical/electronic principles and subsea control systems is desirable.
