Job Description

Fugro Satellite Positioning manage a global network of reference stations, monitoring signals from GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and Galileo) satellites and generating corrections to significantly improve the accuracy of unaugmented GNSS signals. Correction messages are transmitted to vessels via a robust, fault-tolerant broadcast infrastructure, providing precise, reliable, real-time satellite positioning that is accurate worldwide, to just a few centimetres.

We offer high performance positioning services, primarily to the energy industry. Our products and services are designed specifically to provide position reference for dynamic positioning systems and provide a precise, reliable, high-accuracy differential GNSS correction service optimised for DP safety critical applications requiring 24/7 availability and full redundancy under demanding conditions.

We have a vacancy for a Service Engineer to join the Oslo-based field service team. Our department provide global support for our products and services. This includes field travel, email support and round-the-clock duty phone. In addition, we have a production line to manufacture and test GNSS systems ready for installation.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Handling of customer support cases

  • Participate in duty rotation (4-week rotation)

  • Manufacturing and testing of GNSS equipment for offshore installations

  • Field travel for service and installation on marine GNSS equipment

  • Support and promote a Team Fugro culture with focus on environment and safety

Qualifications required:

  • Suitable BSc or technical college level qualification

  • Good written and oral English and Norwegian

Advantageous skills:

  • Independent, structured, and self-driven

  • Understanding of electronics and computer technology

  • Experience in vessel installation and the commissioning of marine electronics.

  • Professional approach and good communication skills

  • Knowledge of DP systems or offshore experience would be a distinct advantage
