Job Description

Do you want to take part in the transition from oil & gas to renewables? Fugro, a global company, with presence in almost 60 countries, is looking for a geologist to join the team in Oslo, Norway.

Applying innovative solutions, we conduct geotechnical, geophysical, and environmental surveys, in the marine segment. We have a strong presence within old and new energy markets and eager to develop this further.

We have an experienced team of geologists and are now seeking a recent Geoscience graduate.

Key tasks & Responsibilities

  • Work independently to validate, interpret, and integrate various geophysical, geologic, geotechnical, and well data to form comprehensive assessment of marine site conditions.

  • Write and prepare all aspects of technical reports according to Fugro standards and commonly in collaboration and under supervision with other team members.

  • Make technical presentations and interacts with clients, contractors and regional Fugro offices.

  • Work closely with GIS specialists to facilitate data deliveries and charts.

  • Prepares input to the offshore operations both before and during acquisition.

Position requirements

We are looking for a newly educated Geoscientist with the following qualifications:

  • MSc within marine or quaternary geology, geoscience or geophysics. The ideal background would include a mixture of marine geophysics, geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and GIS applications.

  • Ideally, 0 – 2 years of relevant experience, including seismic interpretation.

  • Experience with interpretation of marine-acquired survey data, predominantly seismic data (2D and 3D) but ideally also side scan sonar, magnetometer, and sub-bottom profiler data.

  • Experience with software packages like IHS Kingdom Suite (or Petrel), SonarWiz, Oasis Montaj and ArcGIS is an advantage.

  • Fluent in English, both written and oral. Norwegian language skills advantageous.

  • A high degree of initiative and attention to detail are essential.

  • Able to keep pace with short deadlines and high workload at times.

  • Work permit in Norway.
