Job Description

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join Fugro as we are in a stage of growth, and as a result have a brand-new opening for a Land Field Technician - Geotechnical/Geophysical. This role is primarily responsible for working with our project team in the field but will also be learning from and supporting our project manager in the office with required tasks throughout the project lifecycle.

Field deployments will depend on the project and may vary from a few days up to three weeks at a time to various locations within Australia, plus international travel for training to learn from world class experts in their field.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing onsite assistance to ensure various equipment is moved, set up and maintained to meet project requirements;

  • Fieldwork to assist data acquisition as required, including deploying geo phones, helping with borehole drilling, load testing, pile testing, seismic refraction, structural health monitoring etc;

  • Supporting colleagues with data capture on laptop and securely sending data to processing team;

  • Assisting the project manager with proposals and project coordination tasks in the office;

  • Proactively supporting the overall team in any way to meet department and project objectives.

About You

Your curiosity and enjoyment of continuously learning about and working with different types of tools, machinery, and instruments, as well as ways to deploy, maintain and operate them, will set the foundation to be effective in this role.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualification in Surveying/ Electrician/Geotechnical Engineering/Civil / Mining Engineer or other relevant trade or tertiary education;

  • Adaptable and proactive, with the drive to learn and achieve results;

  • High interest and a natural flair for technology;

  • Flexible to do what is required for a project’s completion.

  • The ability to work away for extended periods when required.
