Job Description

Fugro operates an innovative fleet of specialised vessels equipped with state-of-the-art survey spreads, globally. In addition, Fugro owns and maintains a high-tech land-and airborne spread of equipment to acquire Geo Data of our planet.

For our head office in Leidschendam, the Netherlands, we are looking for a Category Manager to join the Global Category Equipment & MRO team. You lead the category which includes Fuels, Equipment and Services for Fugro’s Marine and Land businesses from a Procurement perspective.

In this role, you are responsible for, cooperation with the business stakeholders, developing and implementing a procurement category strategy, and driving cost savings in compliance with global standards and guidelines. You play a key role in this context by developing & executing category strategies, negotiating and managing (implementing) agreements with suppliers, and serving as a focal point for procurement requests.

Your Role

  • You are responsible for the procurement of goods and services in the Equipment & MRO category e.g., fuels, vessel equipment, automation and controls, drilling equipment, equipment engineering, and other related activities;

  • You develop and implement a comprehensive category strategy including sourcing and contracting, integrating ESG aspects and other sustainability practices in alignment with the company's overall procurement goals and objectives;

  • You build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiate contracts. You monitor and manage supplier performance to drive continuous improvement of products and services and mitigate supply risks;

  • You conduct market research, identify market trends and potential suppliers, considering ESG and sustainability risks, and lead the end-to-end procurement process, including RFQs, RFPs, and negotiations, to achieve optimal terms and conditions;

  • You identify opportunities to optimise total cost of ownership (TCO), drive savings initiatives, and implement efficient procurement practices;

  • You actively build and maintain strong relationships with the Business and Procurement stakeholders to align your strategy. You are reporting to the stakeholders on the category and category developments on a regular basis.

Your track record

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or certification (e.g., NEVI, CIPS) is a plus;

  • You have proven experience (5+ years) in procurement or strategic sourcing and contract management, ideally in the Marine and Vessel category, preferably within multinational and multicultural organisation;

  • You are experienced in strategic sourcing methodologies, contract negotiations, contract management, and supplier relationship management;

  • You have an excellent command of the English language, good communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels;

  • You have strong project and change management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
