Job Description

Job Purpose: The USV Survey Operator is tasked with managing and operating the survey equipment on Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) to ensure the acquisition of high-quality data. This role encompasses not only the precise operation of survey tools but also the general operation and maintenance of the USV, ensuring all systems function optimally for mission success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate USV and its sophisticated survey equipment, ensuring the collection of accurate and high-quality data during missions.

  • Conduct thorough pre-mission checks and regular maintenance on the USV and its payload systems to guarantee operational readiness and reliability.

  • Collaborate with USV Operators, eROV Pilots, and other team members to ensure safe, efficient, and effective mission operations.

  • Adhere to strict operational protocols and safety guidelines, maintaining vigilance over environmental conditions and equipment status to prevent incidents.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues with the USV and survey equipment swiftly, applying problem-solving skills to minimize downtime and ensure continuous data collection.

  • Document mission details, operational data, and maintenance activities accurately, providing comprehensive reports for analysis and future planning.

  • Participate in mission planning and review meetings, offering technical insights and feedback to enhance mission strategies and outcomes.

  • Continuously update skills and knowledge related to USV operations and survey technologies, staying abreast of industry advancements and regulatory changes.

Qualifications, Education & Training:

  • Degree or certification in a relevant technical field such as Marine Engineering, Geographic Information Systems, or similar.

  • Experience with remote-operated vehicles, maritime operations, or survey equipment.

  • Proficiency in technical diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures.

  • Strong understanding of navigation and data collection principles.

  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Working Conditions:

  • Role may involve varying shift patterns, including nights and weekends, depending on operational requirements.

  • Fieldwork in diverse environmental conditions, requiring resilience and adaptability.
