Fugro Marine Geotechnics provides marine geotechnical services to manage ground risks associated with marine project development. Using technical expertise, advanced exploration tools, field and laboratory testing, computer simulations, and quantitative methods, we identify, evaluate, and resolve geotechnical design challenges.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer - Marine, you will manage the design and documentation of existing geotechnical hardware, including modifications and new tool development. You will create fabrication and procurement documents, oversee prototype assembly and testing, and work with teams to ensure equipment meets client specifications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and prioritize Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and Environmental protection, ensuring the safety of employees, processes, customers, and communities.

  • Design and oversee the fabrication of major new geotechnical equipment.

  • Supervise assembly and preliminary testing of prototypes.

  • Attend initial deployment and testing of prototype equipment offshore, document successes and failures, and note the effects of minor modifications. Update drawings, make required modifications, and conduct further testing after the test program is complete.

  • Advise technicians on recommended assembly techniques and the proper use of new or modified equipment.

  • Prepare fabrication and procurement documents for new equipment, including models, drawings, bills of material, and suggested vendors.

  • Write testing requirements and supervise the testing of prototype equipment.

  • Participate in preliminary meetings for projects requiring new or modified equipment, aiming to meet customer requirements reliably, cost-effectively, and innovatively.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.

  • Valid driver's license with a clear driving record.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain credentials for offshore work, such as TWIC, water survival, and OGUK certification.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or 10 years of experience in designing tools for subsea use.

  • Proficiency in 3-D modeling software such as SolidWorks.

  • Experience in drafting proposals and manuals.

  • Experience using MathCad and AutoCad.

  • Ability to travel and work away from home base, both domestically and internationally.
