Job Description
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Technician for geotechnical testing to join Fugro in our established Australian operations. Based in our brand new lab in Balcatta, you will be working in a small team environment and reporting directly to the Laboratory Team Leads. Your duties will include:
Perform laboratory tests on soil and rock samples as prescribed by the clients to the highest level of safety and quality standards;
Thoroughly record test data and calculate laboratory test results using spreadsheets or equivalent software with high accuracy;
Utilise computer-controller data logging equipment, enter data processing templates as well as assist in testing data analysing when needed;
Responsible for calibration and checking of test instrument/equipment and maintenance of calibration records;
Work closely with the team of laboratory technicians and engineers to ensure test results pass peer review in terms of technical quality.

Within this department, our Laboratory team is dedicated to performing a wide range of tests on soil and rock samples as well as looking after the test data analysis, using cutting-edge equipment and technology. The team plays a vital role in driving the success of innovative projects, particularly in the offshore windfarm sector, contributing to the development of groundbreaking ventures in the market.

About You
Your success in securing this role will require:
Diploma/Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques/Engineering or equivalent is desirable;
Sound understanding of laboratory testing standards preferably in geotechnical or construction materials testing;
Willingness to learn new skills with a positive can-do attitude;
Strong communication skills, ability to interface with project stakeholders;
Experience in classification and index testing is highly beneficial as with some experience in advanced testing equipment such as triaxial, simple shear, direct shear and resonate column.
