For individuals who can take the initiative but work well within a team.

The role

The Technician will be responsible for preparing, testing and maintaining Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) systems, sub systems, assets and all associated equipment within the Workshop, which is a key part of ensuring that Fugro achieves operational excellence by ensuring that the ROV’s it uses for its sub marine operations are maintained to the highest standards.

A typical day in your role involves undertaking testing, maintenance, preparation, repair, and certification of all types of ROV systems and associated equipment in a safe manner. You are responsible for maintaining and updating all documentation related to maintenance, fault repair, and equipment preparation. Ensuring the safe load-out of systems and equipment for pre-mobilisation is also a key part of your duties. Additionally, you assist with providing technical and operational support to meet business requirements when requested. Engaging with and participating in discussions with project teams to ensure successful project execution is another important aspect of your day.

Who you’ll be working with:

As a Workshop Technician you will be working within the ROV Workshop team and will report directly into the ROV Technician Supervisor. You will also work alongside the Fugro project teams, logistics, Technical Manager and other ROV support teams internally and externally.

We are looking for someone with a recognized apprenticeship in a mechanical or hydraulic discipline (or equivalent). The ideal candidate should have knowledge of principles, techniques, procedures, and the use of equipment required for the repair and maintenance of industrial equipment. They must be able to read, comprehend, and follow diagrams, schematic drawings, OEM manuals, and engineering instructions, and possess good workshop practices and skills. Additionally, the candidate should be based in or within commutable distance of Aberdeen.

In addition to the essential qualifications, it would be advantageous for candidates to have an understanding of basic electrical principles. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, is also desirable. Previous experience working on ROV systems and/or Subsea Tooling equipment, whether in an offshore or onshore environment, would be highly beneficial.

Fugro provides a positive work environment as well as projects that will satisfy the most curious minds. We also offer great opportunities to stretch and develop yourself. By giving you the freedom to grow faster, we think you’ll be able to do what you do best, better. Which should help us to find fresh ways to get to know the earth better. We encourage you to be yourself at Fugro. So bring your energy and enthusiasm, your keen eye and can-do attitude. But bring your questions and opinions too. Because to be the world’s leading Geo-data specialist, we need the strength in depth that comes from a diverse, driven team.

  • Extensive career & training opportunities both nationally and internationally.

  • Competitive salary accompanied by an attractive package including a contributory pension scheme

  • Flexible working hours and the potential to work 2 days a week from home in accordance with your manager and corporate policies.
