Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.  As an Employee Relations Advisor at Fugro in Wallingford you will manage a wide range of employee relations cases, including long-term sickness, disciplinary issues, grievances, capability concerns, and occupational health referrals.  You will advise and coach managers on effectively addressing employee relations issues in line with company policies, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to best practices.  This role is for a 1 year fixed term contract.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage a wide range of employee relations cases, including long-term sickness, disciplinary issues, grievances, capability concerns, and occupational health referrals.

  • Advise and coach managers on effectively addressing employee relations issues in line with company policies, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to best practices.

  • Review case evidence and procedural notes to ensure compliance and thoroughness, and assist managers in drafting correspondence, including allegations and outcome letters.

  • Apply sound judgment and expertise to navigate demanding and sensitive cases with professionalism and discretion.

  • Identify high-risk cases and highlight areas for improvement in management capability, providing tailored support as required.

  • Actively contribute to knowledge sharing and foster collaboration by leveraging case management experience across the organization.

  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring a high-quality and professional customer experience.

What you’ll need to thrive in this role:

  • Previous experience essential: Demonstrated experience in managing high volume employee relations casework and providing expert advice.

  • Strong Communication: Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with all stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving: Expertise in navigating complex and sensitive employee relations cases with sound judgment.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring compliance and thoroughness in reviewing case evidence and procedural notes.

  • Coaching and Advising: Skill in advising and coaching managers on employee relations issues and best practices.

  • Discretion and Professionalism: Handling demanding cases with professionalism and maintaining confidentiality.

  • Relationship Building: Developing and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Risk Management: Identifying high-risk cases and providing tailored support to improve management capability.

  • Knowledge Sharing: Actively contributing to knowledge sharing and fostering collaboration within the organization.

  • Influencing Skills: Ability to influence and guide managers and stakeholders towards effective solutions.

  • Critical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to assess situations and make informed decisions.

  • Emotional Intelligence: High level of emotional intelligence to handle sensitive issues with empathy and understanding.

  • CIPD Qualification desirable: Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) qualification or equivalent, showcasing your expertise in HR and employee relations.
