"We are currently bridging the gap between the Geophysical Offshore and Remote Operations."

As a Remote Operations surveyor, we are very much hand in hand with project management, innovations, research and development. Our main goal is to create a safer offshore environment by bringing the navigation into the Remote Operations Center. We provide positioning for the vessels and the subsea equipment.

From offshore to ROC

I've been with Fugro for nearly four years, two of those were spent offshore and nearly two in the Remote Operations Center (ROC). When I'm tasked to go offshore, it is for investigating remote operations or the hybridization of the current roles that we're taking on. We are currently investigating the job types that can be hybridized in the ROC.

I enjoy remote operations and I think offshore work is fantastic. I have got to put my hands in different job types and that's what I like.

Paige McCaleb

Remote Operations Surveyor

Remote Operations are very innovative. We have a chance to dive into a whole bunch of different markets, from anchor handling to dive boats. These are all jobs that I had never done before being in the operations center. So, it really opened up my book of work in terms of what I'm capable of doing and the skills that I have.
