Generates leads, opportunities and sales of Fugro products and services in a region or business lines by 1) actively engaging with clients, 2) leading sales and business development efforts on large, strategic client projects, 3) supporting the marketing and proposal development activities in the business unit and, 4) meeting sales targets. Works in close collaboration with proposal management and project management teams.

Key Accountabilities:

The Business Development Manager is responsible for planning and implementation of all Business Development activities.  He develops company marketing and sales visit plans. He ensures that the operations and project management teams are provided with marketing support throughout the life of the contract.

*Marketing:

To develop the company marketing plan in conjunction with Head BLM; To maintain regular contact with key clients and new clients via sales visits and presentations To help maintain company contact management system to ensure Business Development leads are appropriately administered and actioned To maintain/develop commercial market knowledge to aid tendering strategies; To maintain and update company sales literature (including website marketing content) To organise corporate hospitality events and promotions Assist Head BLM in preparation and control of company marketing budget To provide market information and assessments to management as required Ensure efficient use of assets and manpower, including facilitation and coordination of marketing resources within Business Lines (e.g. Project Managers) When required, to ensure timely production of detailed technical/commercial proposals in compliance with company and customer requirements To keep abreast of advantageous new technologies which may be promoted to clients; Inter OPCO liaison and development of productive relationships with key sister companies To keep updated with current company offshore practice To ensure marketing activities are conducted in accordance with company’s QA/HSE processes

*Financial:

To assist in strategic market related decisions – eg vessel deployments and new investments

*Operations:

Assist operations at project start-up in preparation of project budgets and cash flows. Advise operations on specific aspects that need to be considered on projects. Any other work as assigned by the Company.

*General Management Responsibilities:

Determine resource requirements pertaining to personnel, equipment, financial, etc, with department managers, and other Fugro managers Recruit, hire, train and supervise personnel; terminate as required and authorized Supervise the induction of new personnel (direct report) and participate in the welcoming of all new hires (meeting…) Undertake new hire reviews after 60-90 days of relevant personnel (direct report) and ensure new hire reviews are conducted by relevant managers Approve training requests based on corporate objectives Conduct annual performance reviews and interim reviews of staff reporting to them.

*Principal Working Relationships:

Work with Head BLM and MD to establish Development Plan / Strategies and co-ordination of activities between regional branches for efficient execution of projects. Liaise with Financial Controller for financial control of administrative procedures and regional marketing aspects. Work with Department Managers to co-ordinate marketing and services to common clients.

*Qualifications required:

  • Graduate or Equivalent in surveying/engineering.

  • MBA in Marketing will be preferred.

*Skills / experience required to do the job:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in survey industry or similar industry.

  • Min. 3 years experience in project management.

  • Thorough knowledge of company’s core business. (Energy, Infrastructure & Water)

  • Conversant in English Language.

Responsible for ensuring safety of self and others at site. Prevent damage of equipment and assets Responsible for following all safety signs/procedures/ safe working practices Responsible for using appropriate PPE’s Responsible for participating in mock drills. Entitled to refuse any to undertake any activity considered unsafe. Responsible for filling up of hazard observation card, wherever hazard has been noticed at site. Responsible for safe housekeeping of his work place. To stop any operation that is deemed unsafe To be able to operate fire extinguisher in case of fire To report an incident as soon as possible to immediate supervisor and HSE manager To complete HSE trainings as instructed to do so
