Job Description

Do you want to join our Geo-data revolution? Fugro’s global reach and unique know-how will put the world at your fingertips. Our love of exploration and technical expertise help us to provide our clients with invaluable insights. We source and make sense of the most relevant Geo-data for their needs, so they can design, build and operate their assets more safely, sustainably and efficiently. But we’re always looking for new talent to take the next step with us. For bright minds who enjoy meaningful work and want to push our pioneering spirit further. For individuals who can take the initiative but work well within a team.

The role

The main aspects of this newly created position will involve performing quality assurance and quality control approvals for laboratory test results, inclusive of effective stress tests performed to BS1377, ISO17892 and ASTM standards and novel in-house advanced test methods.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable with the below duties:

  • Perform and review geotechnical classification tests, including, but not limited to plasticity index, particle size distribution analysis and particle density.

  • Review and interpret total stress tests, including phi angle and cohesion from direct shearbox and residual shear strength from Bromhead Ringshear.

  • Review and interpret parameters from one-dimensional oedometers to obtain relevant consolidation parameters such as mv, cv and k, primary and secondary compression and Pre-consolidation pressure.

  • Review effective stress tests performed on clay and sand obtained from offshore to determine undrained shear strength.

  • Using state of the art testing equipment analyses dynamic cyclic triaxial test results and advise if the cyclic ratios used are sufficient according to tau average (tav) or tau cyclic (tcy) failure conditions.

  • Interpret signal peaks received from vertically polarised sine wave (svh) bender element signal data to analyse the shear modulas for use with soil stiffness.

  • Relating to soil stiffness, review small strain measurements obtained from local LVDT transducers and resonant column.

Who we're looking for:

Someone who is experienced and happy to process data by collating, processing and presenting data on and/or leading of projects of medium to high complexity.

They will ultimately be responsible for the processing of relevant data and the compilation and presentation of data deliverables, the appropriate quality control of data and deliverables and the management and production of data deliverables.

You will also be responsible for maintaining and performing the standard peer review procedures on all deliveries before being sent to the client if applicable.

What we offer:

Fugro provides a positive work environment as well as projects that will satisfy the most curious minds. We also offer great opportunities to stretch and develop yourself. By giving you the freedom to grow faster, we think you’ll be able to do what you do best, better. Which should help us to find fresh ways to get to know the earth better. We encourage you to be yourself at Fugro. So bring your energy and enthusiasm, your keen eye and can-do attitude. But bring your questions and opinions too. Because to be the world’s leading Geo-data specialist, we need the strength in depth that comes from a diverse, driven team.

  • Extensive career & training opportunities both nationally and internationally.

  • Competitive salary accompanied by an attractive package including contributory pension scheme.

  • Option to lease an electric car.

  • Add any other local benefits
