Job Summary:
The Geophysicist will be responsible for the proposal, acquisition, processing, interpretation and reporting of conventional geophysical data and deliverables including client liaison on a project basis.
He/she will be familiar with and comfortable operating a wide range of geophysical survey equipment. The role may be part of a collaborative project team or may comprise leading projects of medium to high complexity.
The role will require planning and supervision of project geophysical operations comprising both Fugro and external personnel. Project responsibilities will also include data QC and deliverables review as appropriate to their area of expertise.
He/she will provide technical input for proposals and tenders and will make recommendations for optimization and/or supplementary investigations where appropriate.
He/she will assist with the establishment and compilation of project procedures and technical delivery. He/she may be involved in supporting commercial activities associated with geophysical services and supporting technical development programmes.
He/she may be involved in running small LSC project other than geophysical survey for utilization.
He/she may require traveling to APAC region to support Geophysical Survey project.
About the role:
Project Preparation & Management
Represent Fugro at site visits and pre-start meetings as required
Prepare project specific documentation including, but not limited to:
Survey plans and data acquisition protocols
RAMS
Project Execution Plan
Quality Plan
Daily & Weekly progress reporting templates
Ensure that necessary pre-mobilisation equipment checks and calibrations have been carried out as appropriate to the project
Liaise with approved suppliers for provision of necessary third-party equipment and plant
Liaise with Client representative(s) for operational planning
Liaise with other service lines and other country geophysical service line staff for operational planning
Field Operations
Manage geophysical field crews acting as Team Leader or Party Chief ensuring that:
Project specific data acquisition protocols are followed
Regular data quality control measures are in place
Client and Fugro specified daily reporting requirements are fulfilled
Client and Fugro specified QHSSE requirements are fulfilled
All necessary equipment and plant checks are carried out and reported throughout the fieldwork period
Geophysical data and site notes are appropriately backed up and transferred to the Fugro network
Communicate and act as the main point of contact with the Client for field activities
Ensure that all relevant project information is communicated to the Fugro Project Manager
Ensure that field operations are completed on schedule and that any standby is appropriately recorded and reported to the Fugro Project Manager and Client representative
Data processing, reporting & deliverables
Ensure that geophysical data processing is carried out to meet the project deliverables by:
developing and implementing suitable data processing protocols
ensuring that junior geophysical staff are appropriately assigned and briefed on processing tasks
ensuring that regular data quality control is performed aligned with the project objectives and deliverables
Carry out and/or supervise factual geophysical data reporting with support of senior geophysicists
Carry out interpretative geophysical data reporting including collaboration with other service line staff as necessary
Ensure that all required project data deliverables are prepared for client submission
Carry out first line review of geophysical data reports prior to formal approval
Review and respond to Client queries and comments on deliverables
Represent geophysics at project meetings (internal and external)
Contribute positively to project close out and lessons learnt sessions
Mentorship
Provide informal mentorship to geophysical technical staff that includes:
internal training on key geophysical acquisition equipment/methodology
internal training on key geophysical processing procedures
ad-hoc support during each project phase
Provide technical training to other Fugro service line staff where appropriate for geophysical method
Business Development & Sales
Support business development and sales teams by providing technical input into proposal and tender submission
Technical Excellence
Prepare and review proposal/project technical specifications and proposed protocols
Contribute to preparation of internal guidance and best practice documentation
Requirements:
Education: Degree - Bachelor Science or similar
Working experience: 3 to 8 years in a relevant Earth Science profession
Languages & Proficiency: English Proficient
