Job Summary

Laboratory Engineer for the Core Logging and Routine, Standard and Advanced testing.

To process soils and/or rock samples, perform core logging and routine testing, data recording, data processing and provide assistance to project lead in accordance with company procedures, health and safety and quality policies.

Performs consolidation, stress path, cyclic and dynamic tests without supervision, using advanced computer control programs. Also recording data in electronic format and entering it into a computer; able to process the advanced tests; also able to perform all the more basic testing; may go as a laboratory technician on offshore investigations.

Key responsibilities:

1. Testing

• Process soils and/or rock samples, perform core logging and routine testing, data recording, data processing and provide assistance to project lead in accordance with company procedures, health and safety and quality policies

• Perform stress path and advanced testing to the highest levels of safety and testing standards;

2. Test Procedures

• Assist in developing new working practices and methods to improve the efficiency and quality of core logging, standard and advanced testing;

3. Equipment Maintenance

• Ensure that all equipment used in the Core Logging and Routine, Standard and Advanced Testing areas of the Laboratory is working, calibrated and is fit-for-purpose;

3. QHSSE

• Help in maintaining accreditation of the laboratory and promote good QAQC practices for all staff

• Adhere to all Fugro QHSSE Management systems, policies and standards at all times.

4. Data Processing

• Assist in the processing, presenting and checking of test results;

• Cross Trained

• Perform other more basic testing in the laboratory as and when required;

About you

• Preferably Degree in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering or equivalent.

• Relevant work experience in geotechnical laboratory setting

• Good analytical ability, organizational and time management skills

• Self-driven, possess excellent team spirit and good interpersonal skills

• Preferably proficient in MS office applications
