Job Description

We are on an exciting journey in the transition of developing alternative markets in addition to Oil & Gas including floating wind, mineral mining, shallow water, scientific drilling, geological institutes.  To assist us on that journey, we are looking for a Vessel Operations Manager for Fugro’s next generation seafloor drill, the Blue Dragon development program.

As a Vessel Operations Manager you ensure both an effective and efficient execution of the agreed work during preparation and execution of project assignments with Fugro’s subsea drills Blue Dragon (BD) and Seafloor Drill 1 (SFD1) in such manner that the QHSE, technical and contractual requirements are met. In this role you maintain effective communication with project team members, critical equipment suppliers, sub-contractors and other stakeholders. You work closely with the offshore BD and SFD1 teams to deliver project objectives ensuring the highest level of safety, sampling, and operational standards according to Company procedures and QHSE policies.

Your role

  • You are responsible and accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the geotechnical equipment onboard our vessels;

  • You identify improvements and develop plans to implement these to further in-crease efficiency or reduce cost together with the responsible project manager and fleet.

  • You inspect existing and new offshore vessels and installations to determine expected reliability using a risk based approach;

  • You execute quality control inspections on offshore project equipment and systems and improve quality assurance processes and procedures when needed;

  • You plan and schedule complex mobilization on existing vessels, new build vessels or vessels of opportunity;

  • You are a team member of projects which are focused on improving operational and offshore project performance.

Your track record

  • You have a mbo 4 education in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with several years’ work experience;

  • You have significant practical experience in Marine site investigations both deep and shallow water, and knowledge of alternative markets e.g., scientific drilling, floating wind etc.;

  • You have substantial knowledge of offshore technical systems and vessels, both technical and class related items and you are experienced with hydraulics and electrical systems;

  • You have a hands-on approach and strong planning and organisational skills;

  • You have excellent communication and reporting skills in English (verbal and written);

  • You are available to travel worldwide on assignment when required.
