Join our USV (Uncrewed Surface Vessel) team! Fugro is leading this development, and you can be part of it.
Our innovative USV’s are widely celebrated within the maritime industry. Our products are used for subsea inspections, seafloor mapping and environmental monitoring. Using our USV’s reduces operational costs, human risks, and CO2 emissions.
We are looking for an PLC Automation Engineer to take the next step with us. Your expertise is critical for the development, integration and testing of Autopilot and propulsion control systems.
In this role, you work closely with the Product Owner and Project Manager to align on technical solutions with product requirements and goals. An international mindset is needed, as you coordinate with teams around the globe to ensure seamless integration and functionality of USV systems. In addition, you serve as point of contact for third-party suppliers.

Your role
Deploy PLC code across multiple USV’s (Unmanned Surface Vehicles) or test platforms, ensuring proper functionality and performance;
Ensuring seamless integration of the PLC with other automation components such as sensors, actuators, and communication systems;
Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions with third-party supplier, to acquire comprehensive understanding of their codebase;
Develop interfaces as defined by the system architect, ensuring they meet project specifications and standards;
Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the deployed code;
Ensuring that the autopilot system complies with relevant safety regulations and quality standards;
Analysing data from the USV's operations and presenting findings in written reports.
Your track record
You have a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in software/electrical engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field;
Proven experience in PLC programming and automation, preferably in marine or industrial environments;
Strong knowledge of autopilot systems, propulsion control, and marine automation technologies;
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Proactive mindset with the ability to take ownership and make decisions.
