The role
The Fugro Marine Environmental team within the Marine Site Characterisation business line is now looking for an enthusiastic Proposal Manager to join the team based in our waterfront offices in Portchester, on the UK’s south coast or in our offices within Edinburgh’s Heriot Watt University campus.
Working as a pivotal part of the team, you will primarily be responsible for writing tenders for Marine Environmental projects world-wide, whilst maintaining excellent relationships with clients through responding to enquiries, active follow-ups and identifying opportunities for Fugro.
The Marine Environmental team specialises in environmental site characterisation, impact assessment and ecological monitoring. The data we collect enables our clients and regulatory organisations to fully understand the effects of developments and activities in the coastal and marine environment.
Your key responsibilities will include the review of client provided Invitations to Tender (ITT), using your technical and commercial knowledge you will prepare and write proposals, plan surveys, identify areas of innovation, prepare schedules, calculate price and identify project risks. Your work will involve collaborating with colleagues from across the globe working in a team comprising legal staff and commercial colleagues from different survey disciplines to prepare joint responses.
This role will suite someone with commercial tendering experience and awareness of the marine survey industry, or with a technical marine survey / marine biology background and an enthusiasm for entering a high paced client focussed environment.
Who we’re looking for:
Essential:
BSc in Marine Science or Environmental Science or relevant equivalent commercial, management or sales experience.
Skilled problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication with a methodical common-sense approach, attention to detail and exceptional inter-personal and communication skills.
Strong numeracy skills with good Microsoft Office capabilities.
Experience of producing written deliverables.
Desirable
Experience writing or costing commercial proposals.
Ability to think outside the box and design innovative solutions or schedules.
Business development negotiation experience.
